Lecture: Exciting journey into the world of astronomy

Thursday, 3 April 2025, from 19:30 at the Bocholt Media Centre

What actually happens to stars when they "burn up"? Dr Philipp Heimann gets to the bottom of these and other questions in his exciting lecture "The life and death of stars" at the Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg Adult Education Centre. On Thursday, 3 April, the doctor of physics will take the audience on a journey into the fascinating world of astronomy at 19:30 in the Bocholt Media Centre (Hindenburgstr. 5).

Although stars seem to twinkle unchangingly in the night sky for humans, they go through a complex life cycle - from their formation to their sometimes spectacular end. In his lecture, Dr Heimann sheds light on the various stages of this process, from brown dwarfs to enormous hypergiants. He knows how to present complex scientific facts in an entertaining and understandable way.

Dr Philipp Heimann not only works as a software developer, but is also an enthusiastic lecturer on popular science topics with a focus on astrophysics. His aim is to rekindle the fascination for physics, which is often perceived as dry and complicated.

The lecture costs 6 euros (concessions 5 euros). Registration and seat reservation is possible at www.vhs-bocholt.de. Remaining places will be allocated at the box office.
