Documentation about German-Dutch art project "ARTEM@ARTIS" / "(NO) Time to Waste" published
Artistic homage to "Bauhaus" year 2019 in collaboration with 34 regional craft enterprises
In the "Bauhaus" anniversary year 2019, the cross-border art project ARTEM@ARTIS linked 26 German and Dutch artists with 34 regional craft businesses, in the spirit of Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius "... we must all return to craftsmanship". In 2019 and 2021, the artworks were exhibited in Bocholt (D) and Ulft (NL). As a follow-up, a carefully curated 168-page documentation of the project has now been published.
This was presented by the participants at the Bocholt Kunsthaus. Interested parties can get the documentation free of charge at the information desk of the city administration. It presents in one half the German exhibition "ARTEM@ARTIS" and in the second half the Dutch exhibition "(NO) Time to Waste".
The work of each artist is presented with a short text as well as pictures of the genesis and of the final product. Photos of the artworks give viewers the opportunity to review the two exhibitions. Deputy Mayor Elisabeth Kroesen thanked all participants and artists for the exhibitions and the printed work.
Art and craft
"ARTEM@ARTIS" (Latin for art and craft) is the first German-Dutch collaboration in this field. The exhibition with the same title was held at Kunsthaus Bocholt from September 19 to October 13, 2019. It was conceived as a tribute to the Bauhaus anniversary year 2019. "As an interactive and inspiring project, ARTEM@ARTIS was a great challenge for the participating artists and craftsmen. Not every project idea could be realized 1:1," the curator of the exhibition, Verena Winter, describes the creative process. In the end, more than 800 visitors saw the exhibition.
Cultural heritage in the region
The Dutch exhibition "(NO) Time to Waste" was to be realized as early as 2020. The Corona pandemic threw a spanner in the works of organizers and artists. In the spring of 2021, the time had come: thanks to a glass extension to the CIVON Innovation Center in the DRU Industrial Park in Ulft (Netherlands), it was possible to present the artworks for all to see - without having to go inside the building - from the outside. From April 9 to June 6, 2021, many visitors were able to admire the colorful and innovative artworks. "With this exhibition, we wanted to reach a wide audience and surprise them with the knowledge and skills that are hidden in this region. It is an impetus to re-evaluate our intangible heritage and the regional creative industries," said the two organizers Léon Marie Dekker and Margareth van Aken of "Warmgroen."
Supporters in Germany and the Netherlands
The documentation of the exhibitions "ARTEM@ARTIS" / "(NO) Time to Waste" is part of the cross-border project "Leonardo da Vinci-Innovation".

These were carried out or produced within the framework of the INTERREG program Germany-Nederland and co-financed by the European Union, the province of Gelderland and the MWIDE NRW. It is supported by the Europe Direct Bocholt and the German-Dutch network "Grenzhoppers".
