Attractive exhibition at LernWerk ends on Monday

Last weekend for "And they were our neighbours" // Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday

The exhibition "And they were our neighbours..." at LernWerk Bocholt is entering its final weekend: On Monday, 27 January, the finissage with the artist Dagmar Calais, the curator Chris Steinbrecher and the participating cooperation partners will take place at LernWerk Bocholt (Industriestr. 1) from 6 pm.

This week, officers from the Borken district police visited the exhibition as part of a special tour. "The feedback on the exhibition was very good, both from the school tours and the adult tours", says Oliver Brenn, Head of the Culture and Archive Division. "Many people were naturally moved by the topic, but also with a great deal of self-reflection", says Brenn.

Last weekend for the exhibition

The exhibition ends next Monday with a finissage. Anyone who still wants to see it will have the opportunity to do so today (Friday), tomorrow (Saturday) and on Sunday. The exhibition will be open to visitors on these days from 11 am to 5 pm.

The finissage will take place on Monday from 6 pm. This will be followed by a reading from the book "I Survived Rumbula" at 7 p.m. Klaudia Kroesen and Claus Cordes will read passages from Frida Michelson's authentic account of the crimes committed by the German occupying forces in Latvia during the Second World War.

Hanne Feldhaus will provide the musical accompaniment on the recorder. The reading marks the end of the programme accompanying the exhibition, which has attracted numerous members of the public, school classes and people from outside the region to the LernWerk since 10 December. The exhibition extends over two floors and invites visitors to explore the fate of Bocholt's Jews during National Socialism.

After the reading, there will be an opportunity for discussion and reflection over a drink. The Bocholt bookshop Seitenblick will be represented with a book table. Due to limited seating capacity, please register for the finissage and reading. Admission to the finissage begins at 5.45 pm, to the reading at 6.45 pm.

Supported by the Heimat-Fonds

The exhibition "And they were our neighbours..." is funded by the "Homeland Fund" of the Ministry of Homeland, Municipal Affairs, Building and Digitisation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and by Volksbank Bocholt eG. The city of Bocholt is realising the project in cooperation with the Bocholter Kunst- und Kulturgemeinschaft e.V., the Stadttheater Bocholt e.V., the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge and EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt.

Interested parties can find more information and register for the finissage on the VHS website or directly at the LernWerk office.
