Record revenue from municipal bulky waste exchange
2,900 euros in favour of the Kinderschutzbund Bocholt // 70 beer tent tables with articles // Contribution to waste avoidance and sustainability
A record amount of 2,900 euros was raised at the last bulky waste exchange organised by the city of Bocholt at the end of November. This time, the proceeds went to the Bocholt Child Protection Association.
Petra Tacke, waste consultant at the Bocholt waste disposal and service company (ESB), is delighted with the great success of the event: "The sale of used items promotes reuse and thus the aspect of sustainability - and at the same time pursues a good cause."
70 beer tent tables with items
At the bulky waste exchange, items were sold that had previously been handed in at the recycling centre. This time, the focus was on Christmas items. 70 beer tent tables in the ESB vehicle hall were full to bursting at the start.
That was well received. Even an hour before the official opening, many interested people were already waiting outside the gates of the hall. Within the first half hour, the offer was already visibly thinned out. "The numerous visitors were impressed, on the one hand by the variety of items and on the other by the sometimes curious things", observed Tacke. Decorative items, toys and household items in particular found new owners. This time, the offer consisted of a particularly large number of small items such as figurines, cups and nativity figures.
Volunteers provide support
The sale was supported by dedicated helpers from the Child Protection Association, who used their negotiating skills to help raise a new record amount. Young people from the THW youth organisation actively helped with the clean-up.
