Public holidays: When citizens can dispose of their waste at the recycling centre

The city of Bocholt informs about the changed opening hours of the recycling centre on Schaffeldstraße during the Christmas and New Year period.

The recycling centre will be closed from Monday, 23 December up to and including Thursday, 26 December (Boxing Day). Regular opening hours apply on Friday, 27 December and Saturday, 28 December.

From Monday, 30 December to Wednesday, 1 January 2025 (New Year), the municipal waste disposal and service company's (ESB) recycling centre will also be closed; it will be available again from Thursday, 2 January.

Regular opening hours outside the public holidays:

On normal days, the recycling centre is closed on Mondays. From Tuesday to Friday, it is open from 9 am to 6 pm. On Saturdays, citizens can drop off their recyclables from 9 am to 1 pm.

Tips for a relaxed visit

Experience has shown that the recycling centre is very busy in the days around Christmas. The ESB therefore asks all visitors to follow the instructions of the staff on site. The staff are on hand to answer any questions, but are generally unable to help unload the vehicles. Anyone requiring assistance should therefore bring a helping person with them.

There may be a tailback on Schaffeldstraße, especially during busy periods. For road users who do not have to go to the recycling centre, a diversion via Benzstraße has been signposted. The ESB recommends that all visitors allow sufficient time for their visit, as longer waiting times cannot be ruled out.

If you have the opportunity, you should postpone your visit to a quieter day in the new year. This will help to spread out the crowds during the public holiday weeks. And even if things get hectic: with a little patience and mutual consideration, everything will run smoothly - and the process will be more pleasant for everyone.
