Old Christmas trees are collected
In many Bocholt families, the Christmas tree will have had its day by Epiphany at the latest. The opportunity is favourable: from next Monday, the old fir and spruce trees will be taken away by the waste disposal and service company (ESB).
The trees are collected and composted by ESB employees on the day of residual waste collection. To ensure that the collection runs smoothly, the city of Bocholt asks you to follow a few instructions:
Please place the tree clearly visible on the street - the collection usually takes place in the early morning in the dark. To prevent the collection from becoming a search game, avoid placing the Christmas trees between hedges, behind fences, in garage yards and driveways or in front gardens.
"There used to be more tinsel?" - That's a good thing! Please remove non-compostable components such as decorations, fairy lights, foil or tinsel before disposal. This is the only way the tree can be composted after collection.
Only trees without root balls will be taken. Is there one left? Then please grab the saw first.
And another reason to swing the saw: The tree should not be longer than 2.50 metres. But is it? Then please cut it in two.
The trees should be placed on the street by 6 a.m. at the latest on the day of collection - even if the refuse collection usually arrives later. The trees are collected in a separate round.
If you can no longer see your tree, you can also drop it off at the recycling centre before collection. Questions about collection can be answered by the waste advice centre on 02871/2463-24.
