Many visitors at the ESB children's flea market
Best conditions for event // Market takes place for the 18th time
On Sunday, in perfect flea market weather, countless visitors flocked to the recycling centre and the adjacent grounds of the Entsorgungs- und Servicebetrieb Bocholt (ESB) on Schaffeldstraße. According to the organisers, the crowds topped the numbers of previous years.
Around 120 stalls invited visitors to stroll and buy. The special thing about this market is that it exclusively offers goods that revolve around the topic of children. Children's clothing and toys in all shapes and sizes were on offer. "Bouncy horses, Pokemons and Playmobil were particularly popular this year," says organiser Karin Kalka-Freundt from the ESB.
Already for the 18th time
The children's flea market took place for the 18th time this year. Waste advisor Kalka-Freundt was very satisfied with how the day went. She praised the dedication of the staff and especially the many hard-working hands of the Kinderschutzbund (Child Protection Association) who ran the cafeteria.
The volunteers sold coffee, cakes and cold drinks there. "480 waffles alone went over the cake counter," says Kalka-Freundt. Around 4.30 p.m., the last mineral water was sold and tap water was handed out free of charge to the thirsty visitors.
Colourful supporting programme
The flea market also included a small supporting programme. In the "painting corner", children could paint clay pots and then fill them with potting soil and nasturtium seeds. More than 80 pots were colourfully decorated by the little artists. Another highlight for the youngsters was the large rubbish truck that the children could climb into with the help of a real rubbish collector.
