Clean holidays: tips for the correct use of waste disposal containers
City of Bocholt gives tips for disposal
Around 100 depot container locations of the waste disposal and service company (ESB) are available to Bocholt's citizens to dispose of glass, paper and old clothes. Most people use this opportunity responsibly - but unfortunately, especially after public holidays such as Christmas and New Year's Eve, rubbish is often deposited next to the containers inappropriately.
Cardboard boxes or bulky waste block access to the containers and make emptying more difficult. The ESB must first remove the waste lying next to them before the containers can be emptied - an avoidable waste of time and resources.
"Silent night, holy night": The containers may be used on working days between 7 am and 12 noon and 3 pm and 7 pm. Disposal is not permitted on Sundays and public holidays out of consideration for local residents to ensure their peace and quiet on these days. If a container is full, glass, paper or old clothes should be taken back or taken to another location.
Large cardboard boxes should be shredded so that they do not block the container. Old clothes should be packed in bags in the containers, as clothes placed next to them become unusable and must be disposed of as residual waste.
Unfortunately, it has happened in the past that vouchers, house keys - and even tablets - have accidentally ended up in the container! Therefore, the following applies to disposal: Be careful what ends up in the container!
If you can manage the time, please postpone the disposal of glass and paper until after the public holidays to avoid overfilling the containers.
Alternative disposal options
Large cardboard boxes can also be handed in unshredded at the recycling centre. Information on the locations of the depot containers can be found in the waste navigator on the website of the city of Bocholt(www.bocholt.de/abfall-navi) or in the free waste app. The city map at www.bocholt.de/stadtkarte provides an overview of all container locations .
