City collects disused Christmas trees
Disposal and service company collects Christmas trees from Friday
In most Bocholt households, the Christmas tree has had its day. The waste disposal and service company will collect the old trees from Friday, 10 January to Thursday, 16 January.
The collection in the outer districts of collection district 5 will already take place on Friday, 10 January - all other districts will be collected the following week on the day of the organic waste collection. The Christmas trees are composted after collection.
To ensure that the collection runs smoothly, the waste advisory service asks you to observe a few rules:
- The trees will be collected on the same day as the organic waste bin collection, but in a separate vehicle. Please do not block the organic waste bin with trees.
- Place the Christmas trees clearly visible on the street. Avoid placing Christmas trees between hedges, behind fences, in garage yards, driveways or in front gardens.
- Remove all non-compostable components, such as jewellery, fairy lights, plastic netting or plastic film, as this is the only way to turn the trees into high-quality compost.
- Only trees without a root ball can be taken away. Trees with root balls must be sawn off. The root ball without the net can be disposed of in the organic waste bin.
- The trees must not be longer than 2.50 metres. Please shorten longer Christmas trees accordingly.
- Please remove any soiling, e.g. from fallen needles.
Important: The trees must be put out by 6 a.m. on the day of refuse collection, even for properties where refuse collection usually comes later. Christmas trees are not collected with the organic waste vehicle, but on a separate tour.
If you would like to get rid of your tree before then, or leave it longer than the collection week, you can also drop it off at the recycling centre.
