Colourful Christmas decorations at the Easter market

It has become a cherished tradition: the large Christmas tree is decorated by schoolchildren at the Easter market. At the end of September, headmistress Sabine Brömmling from the Ludgerus primary school asked whether it would be possible to decorate the tree at the Easter market again this year. Matthias Funke, a member of the board of the ISG Altstadt Bocholt e.V., agreed to do so again in consultation with Stadtmarketing Bocholt. And on Saturday morning, 23 November, the time had come again.

Several pupils from the Ludgerus School lovingly crafted elaborate Christmas tree ornaments. OGS coordinator Marina Bieniek and pedagogical OGS employee Andrea Eiting decorated the tree at the Easter market on Saturday morning in the cold November weather together with pupils and parents.

Matthias Funke from the Wilhelm Busch pharmacy provided all the hard-working helpers with hot chocolate and biscuits. The beautiful, large, green fir tree was quickly transformed into a colourful Christmas tree decorated with angels, stars and candle pictures. "The tree looks great, the children really did a great job", said Matthias Funke happily.

The starting signal for the Advent season has been given. Now that the Christmas lights in the city streets have been switched on and the large tree at the Easter market has been decorated, the Christmas market can start on Thursday, 28 November at 5 pm. In addition, all children can now hand in their boots at Intersport Pieron - and on 6 December, with the help of Father Christmas, look for them in the shop windows of the participating shops of the ISG Altstadt Bocholt and take them back filled. The treasure chest campaign also begins on Saturday, 14 December.
