Colourful Christmas decorations at the Easter market
It has become a cherished tradition: the large Christmas tree is decorated by schoolchildren at the Easter market. On Saturday morning it was time again.
Numerous pupils from Ludgerus School lovingly crafted elaborate Christmas tree ornaments. After a year's break, the new headmistress Sabine Brömmling gladly agreed to keep up the tradition with her primary school pupils. "Around 100 pupils from Year 1 to Year 4 worked hard to decorate the tree together with pupils and parents," she explains. On Saturday, many children and their parents attended the Easter market in changeable November weather.
Matthias Funke from the Wilhelm-Busch pharmacy and the board of the ISG Altstadt Bocholt e.V. provided the children and parents with hot chocolate and biscuits. The beautiful, large, green Christmas tree was quickly transformed into a colourful Christmas tree decorated with angels, stars and reindeer. "The tree looks great, the children have really done a fantastic job," said a delighted Matthias Funke as he continued to hand out delicious cocoa and biscuits.
The starting signal for the Advent season has thus been given. Now that the Christmas lights in the city streets have been switched on, the large tree at the Easter market has been decorated and the Christmas market has started, the treasure chest campaign will begin on Friday, 8 December. Children can also hand in their boots until 2 December and then look for them filled to the brim in the shop windows of the ISG Altstadt Bocholt shops on 6 December with the help of Father Christmas and Knecht Ruprecht. Acceptance points are: Intersport Pieron, Purzelbaum, der Nähkasten, Juwelier Schönicke and Orthopädietechnik Kampshoff.
