Bocholter Aasee Festival 2024

Even if the summer weather hasn't really got going yet, Bocholt's summer has a few great highlights in store alongside a hopefully still successful European Football Championship. The Play Fountain has recently opened in Bocholt city centre, offering water fun for young and old visitors to the city centre throughout July. On the last weekend in July, the St.-Georg-Platz will be filled with wine. Over three days, delicious wines can be sampled at the stands of our seven Palatinate winegrowers.

The next summer highlight in Bocholt follows in August. For three days, there will be a colourful and varied programme for visitors at the bathing bay on Lake Aa.

What does the Aasee Festival have to offer this year?

The Aasee Festival starts on Friday, 9 August at 16:00 with the opening of the children's play area, the food trucks and drinks stands, the Ottilie beach café and relaxed background music. From 18:00, Radio WMW will take over on the stage truck and it's party time with music from the 80s/90s and 2000s. DJ Udo Sandmann from the Disco Lovers will heat things up with the original videos on the big stage video screen.

Papa Clowni and children's play area

On Saturday, the children's play area and the food and drink stations at the bathing bay will open at 12.00 noon. At 3 p.m., Papa Clowni will take over with his children's interactive programme and matching children's songs, and the children's play area can be used free of charge by young visitors on all three days of the event. There will be bouncy castles, a large pirate climbing ship, a throwing booth, basketball competitions, net tennis, a 4-in-a-row game and giant building blocks for the very young festival guests to build freely. Of course, pedal boats or sups can also be hired for a fee from the Uferlos 51˚ pedal boat hire service.

Celebrations and good entertainment with Radio WMW

On Saturday evening, DJ R will be playing from 18:00 until today and invites you to a lovely summer party by the lake in hopefully summery weather.

On Sunday from 12:00 there will be the Radio WMW "Sommergarten" in the style of the well-known ZDF-Fernsehgarten. Here the audience can look forward to live talks with exciting guests and the popular Radio WMW presenter Silvia Ochlast, live BBQ, acoustic music with the duo "Stonewashed", hands-on games, attractive prizes and much more in a cosy beer garden atmosphere.

The children's play area will of course also be open.

To round things off on Sunday, there will be more music with DJ Team Wacho.

The 3rd Classic Meeting with several hundred classic cars will also be organised for all car enthusiasts on the Aasee Festwiese opposite on Sunday. The classic car meeting is organised by Thomas Heister from Anholt, who regularly organises classic car excursions and has a good network in the classic car industry.

Parking with consideration for residents

"We are already asking all out-of-town guests who have to travel by car to use the car parks around Bocholter Aasee and to show consideration for local residents", says Stadtmarketing Bocholt employee Anna Schmitz. "The streets and the housing estate behind Bocholter Badebucht are very narrow and at past events there have been major problems with cars parking incorrectly", continued Schmitz.

In order to keep the housing estate and the driveways of the Aasee residents free, the city marketing department refers to the following surrounding car parks:

  • At the Aasee Bocholt leisure centre, Hochfeldstraße 56b
  • Uhlandstraße 50 at the LWL Museum of Industrial Culture
  • Im Königsesch 5 at Mc Donalds
  • Im Königsesch 39 at the Kneipp association
  • Park & Ride car park Am Ostring

"There is a short distance to walk to the bathing bay from the car parks, but the longest distance is a maximum of 1,500m away. This should be possible for anyone who has no physical limitations to reach the event and enjoy a great afternoon or evening there with consideration for the local residents.", adds colleague Kerstin Schmitt in response to the city marketing department's request.

All bicycles can be parked in the car park directly behind the bathing bay on Hohenhorster Straße.

The Aasee Festival promises to be a great summer highlight in Bocholt for all visitors, whether big or small, young or old. This is ensured by the attractive stage and entertainment programme with media partner Radio WMW and Papa Clowni, the large children's play area, lots of tasty snacks and drinks, comfortable seating and the feel-good character of the Aasee bathing bay.

Without the generous support of our many local partners, this attractive offer would not be possible. Many thanks to Bocholter Energie- und Wasserversorgung, Radio WMW, Stadtsparkasse Bocholt, Fliesen Theissen, Handelshof Bocholt, Bitburger Braugruppe, Getränke Westhoff, Autohaus Evers, Tekloth Solar, TIS and our catering partner, Strandcafé Otilie!
