Bocholt water fun starts on Thursday, 27 June
The construction of the Bocholt water fun area on the market square in front of the historic town hall begins tomorrow. The base of the water play area on the market square will be set up from 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning, followed by the actual play fountain area. On Thursday, the water fun can begin in the middle of the market in front of the historic town hall - as a central meeting point in Bocholt's city centre, as was also shown in the brand strategy process. The PlayFountain will be switched on at 5 pm for the evening market and can then be used for five weeks, hopefully in sunny weather. Königstraße will be closed off during this time so that people can play safely.
Various games are offered
The water fountains can be programmed and there are various games that can be played in the play fountain. All children and adults will quickly become intuitively familiar with the individual game options. For example, there is the game "Racing Cars": here the water fountains spray at different heights from left to right or from right to left and the task is not to be "run over", i.e. to cross the water play area without getting wet. Another game is "Labyrinth": here there are lots of water jets, but there is a way to get through the labyrinth to the other end without getting wet. There are many more games, but when the weather is nice and warm - which hopefully it will be for the next few days and weeks - it is of course absolutely refreshing to get a fountain of water and get really wet and have fun.
Live music in the water play area
But not only children will have enormous fun in the water play area, adults will also get their money's worth. On three Friday evenings, musicians perform on the PlayFountain - in the middle of the water plateau surrounded by water, visitors are treated to good music. With an ice cream, a drink and cosy deckchairs and beanbags, all visitors can spend pleasant evenings on the market square. There will also be light illuminations, although these will only really come into their own after dark. The following artists invite you to special musical evenings: On 05.07. Christian Mallach will delight all visitors with warm and rousing saxophone sounds, on 12.07. Sandra Vanreys will perform with an expressive voice & sensitive guitar playing and on 19.07. Thomas Engel-mann will bring passionate and dynamic sounds to the stage with his saxophone.
In addition to entertainment, the play area promises water fun all along the line and a refreshing solution for hot city centres. We would like to thank Bocholter Energie- und Wasserversorgung and Stadtspar-kasse Bocholt for their support.
