Bocholt Christmas market from 28 November to 22 December
Set-up is in full swing and the scent of mulled wine will soon be in the air, inviting visitors to linger under the large fir tree on the market square. For the 18th time, the Christmas market in Bocholt takes place against the beautiful backdrop of the historic town hall with its illuminated Advent calendar on the market square as well as in Neustraße, at the beginning of Nordstraße and on Neutorplatz.
On Thursday at 5.00 pm, Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff, the Wine Queen Barbara I and Ludger Dieckhues from Stadtmarketing will officially open the Christmas market with musical accompaniment from the Sporker Musikanten. The magical Christmas lights and a number of wintery and Christmassy 3D illuminated figures are already creating an atmospheric ambience in the town centre. You can experience the Christmas stall magic in the city centre every day from 12 noon.
Next Saturday (30 November), visitors can look forward to a big visit, as two Christmas giants on stilts will be spreading a lively Christmas atmosphere for young and old from 11 am to 4 pm. And on the 1st Sunday in Advent, ice designer Joachim Knorra will be conjuring up fascinatingly beautiful ice sculptures on the market from 12-16 hrs.
The ice rink on Neutorplatz is currently being set up at the same time. In addition to winter skating fun for the whole family on around 400 square metres of ice, a snow slide and a children's railway - organised by the Stadtsparkasse Bocholt Foundation with the support of Stadtmarketing Bocholt - will make children's eyes sparkle.
Due to the Christmas market, the weekly market will take place on Gasthausplatz and Osterstraße for the next four weeks and the evening market will be held on St.-Georg-Platz.
The Christmas market is supported by Bocholter Energie- und Wasserversorgung and Stadtsparkasse Bocholt.
