Summer reading club closing party with escape reading

The City Library invites all participants to this year's Oscar Gala

On 14 September, the participants of this year's summer reading club can celebrate and be rewarded at the city library. The final event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the presentation of the reading Oscars and an escape reading experience by author Jens Baumeister. Please register in advance for the Oscar Gala.

An exciting summer of reading is entering the home straight, as the Summer Reading Club 2024 at Bocholt City Library comes to an end with the holidays. For six weeks, all participants were once again able to read around the clock, attend exciting events and use the entire range of services offered by the city library free of charge. "The end of the summer holidays is always a highlight, because we can look forward to beautiful logbooks, unusual reading boxes and much more", says Claudia Alders from the city library.

Submission possible until 17 August

Once again this year, all participants in the Summer Reading Club are invited to hand in the logbooks, self-written stories, reading boxes and their entries for the various competitions. It's worth taking part, as all submissions have the chance to win one of the reading Oscars, which will be awarded at the Oscar Gala. All logbooks, boxes etc. can be handed in directly at Bocholt City Library until 17 August.

Oscar Gala with live escape reading

At the end of the summer reading club, all participants can celebrate an exciting summer of reading. In the city library, this means "The Oskar goes to", because on 14 September the Oskar Gala will once again take place, where the coveted "Reading Oscars" will be awarded in ten different categories - including tried and tested ones such as "The most beautiful reading box" or "The best story" or "The most unusual rating". The Oscars for "The best BookFace" and "The best BookCover" will be back this year, and the first city councillor Björn Volmering will award the coveted "Oscar of Honour".

As a highlight, author Jens Baumeister will take all guests on an exciting reading with an escape-game feeling. The closing ceremony is exclusively for Summer Reading Club participants and their companions. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, please register in advance at stadtbibliothek(at)bocholt(dot)de or 02871/2589-104. The visit is free of charge.

The Summer Reading Club is a project organised by the Kultursekretariat Gütersloh in cooperation with local libraries to promote reading among children and young people.
