Stadtbibliothek: Summer reading club enters the home stretch
Closing event with bestselling children's author Daniel Bleckmann // Who will win the "Reading Oscar"?
Final spurt in the holiday programme at the municipal library: In the last week of the holidays, participants of the Summer Reading Club can still collect stamps and hand in their reading boxes or bookface photos at the municipal library. The deadline is 4 August. The coveted "Reading Oscars" will be awarded for the most creative works of art and the most unusual contributions.
The summer holidays are coming to an end, and so is the Summer Reading Club of the Bocholt Public Library. Around 120 children, young people and adults have read or listened to many books and audio plays and taken part in the events so far. The public library team would like to point out that the reading logbooks must be handed in by 4 August. Entries in the online logbook are also possible until this deadline.
"The children had a lot of fun with the activities in this year's holiday programme. We are delighted with the eagerness and creativity of the participants, both young and old, and are excited to see the works of art that have been created," comments Claudia Alders, Head of the Children's and Young People's Library. Children can give free rein to their creativity until 4 August. Until then, colourful book boxes or bookface photos can be created based on popular templates from the children's library.
Oscar Gala with bestselling author of the well-known KoboldKroniken
On 26 August, the closing party will take place with a big Oscar gala. Here, the "Reading Oscars" will be awarded in ten different categories, including tried and tested ones such as "The Most Beautiful Reading Box" or "Best Story", but also new categories such as "Coolest Team Name" or "Most Outlandish Evaluation (in the online logbook)".
The jury will select the winners from all logbooks and reading boxes submitted by the deadline. The nominees will be notified in advance by the public library. Those who hand in their logbook will receive a certificate as well as an ice cream voucher. As a special highlight, the best-selling children's author Daniel Bleckmann will present his children's book "KoboldKroniken" and draw his famous goblins live.
The closing ceremony is exclusively for participants of the Summer Reading Club and their companions. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, please register in advance by emailing stadtbibliothek(at)bocholt(dot)de or calling 02871 2589-104. The visit is free of charge.
The Summer Reading Club is a project of the Kultursekretariat Gütersloh in cooperation with local libraries to promote reading among children and young people.
