Digital Day 2022 Open House at the City Library
Offerings in robotics, virtual reality, gaming and onlending on June 21 from 3 to 6 p.m.
On Tuesday, June 21, the Bocholt municipal library is hosting an open day to mark Digitaltag 2022 and present its media offerings in the areas of robotics, virtual reality, gaming and onlending (muensterload). From 3 to 6 p.m., four stations will be set up in the municipal library that can be visited without registration.
The city library's digital offerings are growing and growing. Within the diverse program of events, the focus is not only on the enjoyment of culture and the opportunity to participate in society, but also on the promotion of media literacy, and to this end the municipal library has greatly modernized its technical equipment in recent years.
To coincide with this year's Digital Day, all interested parties should now have the chance to get an idea of the digital offerings and their possible uses outside of events and guided tours. On June 21, the municipal library will present four thematic stations to show what can be discovered in the digital library.
In addition to the Onleihe (muensterload), there will also be some formats that will not only make children's hearts beat faster: Those who want can try their hand at exciting games with iPads or program the fun Dash robots. And as a highlight, the new VR glasses will make their event debut.
Making digital life visible
"Against the backdrop of ever-increasing digital developments in everyday life, new formats like this offer a playful way to engage with aspects of digitization - and as a cultural and educational institution, we naturally take this very seriously," says Melanie Tenhumberg, head of Bocholt City Library. The day of action is supported by the "Digital for All" initiative, an alliance of more than 25 organizations from the fields of civil society, culture, science, business, welfare and the public sector. This year, for the third time, numerous activities will take place during the week from June 20 to 24, with Bocholt City Library participating for the first time.
Robotics, gaming and more throughout the city library
The various stations, packed with gaming tablets, VR glasses, Dash robots as well as eReaders, are spread across the different floors of the city library on June 21. They will be open from 3 p.m. and can be visited until 6 p.m. without registration. For further questions, the team of the municipal library is available by mail or by phone at 02871 2589-0.
