"Bocholt liest" - Author Anne Nieland tells from her diary "Der Gewinn" (The Win)
The Borken author Anne Nieland reads from her account of her experience, which is intended to lend more hope and confidence to the topic of cancer // Thursday, 19 October, 7.30 p.m., Bocholt City Library, VVK: 9€ / AK: 10€
On Thursday, 19 October, the author Anne Nieland from Borken will read from her diary "Der Gewinn". With her life story, the author wants to encourage people and contribute to bringing the topics of prevention, early detection and breast cancer research more into focus.
In the Corona summer of 2020, Anne Nieland, aged 35, is diagnosed with breast cancer. Anne is a mother of three children and wants to give an insight into the world during a cancer illness through this book. To share it with the outside world. To give courage to others affected, to give the subject more hope and confidence, to bring it out of the taboo zone.
Writing as part of therapy
Writing during therapy helped her to cope with all the turbulence at that time. The entries evoke pure emotions, recount thoughts and snapshots, sometimes written during the day - sometimes at night. The author describes the time of cancer therapy extremely authentically and stirringly, with a pinch of humour and unsparing openness. A balancing act between contact restrictions, lock-down and homeschooling. Being strong and yet showing weakness. With a view to the small happiness that is not lost even then.
Author from Münsterland
Anne Nieland is an occupational therapist by profession and lives with her family in Borken in Münsterland. With the publication of her diary, she would like to encourage others affected by her life story and provide assistance in communicating and coping with the disease.
