Registering or changing your place of residence is now also possible online

The city administration of Bocholt now offers citizens the opportunity to register their place of residence online or to re-register within the city area. Thanks to the connection to the "gemeinsamonline" service portal of the federal, state and local governments, the data entered there can be processed directly by the city administration. This saves a trip to the office.

Prerequisites

In order to use the new online service, certain requirements must be met. Registration with "BundID" and an identity card or electronic residence permit with activated online function are required. An NFC-enabled smartphone with the ID card app installed (version 1.24.0 or newer) is required for identification. The offer is aimed at people who already have a place of residence in Germany.

After successful online registration or re-registration, users receive an electronic confirmation. The registration certificate is available digitally and a new address sticker is sent directly to the new address by Bundesdruckerei. The chip on the ID card can then be updated using an NFC-enabled smartphone and the new address stored.

With this service, Bocholt city council is consistently continuing on its path of digitalising administrative services.

In addition to the new online service, it is still possible to register or re-register your place of residence directly at the citizens' office.
