Young Bocholters have their say in new Aasee planning
New hands-on format "MAKERTHON" is aimed at 15-25-year-olds // Wednesday, 16 November, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Textilwerk Bocholt // Register now
As is well known, Bocholt's Aasee lake is to be redesigned, and citizens can have their say. The city council has now launched a special format especially for young Bocholt residents: At the so-called "MAKERTHON", 15-25-year-olds have their say and can contribute their ideas. The event will take place on Wednesday, 16 November, from 10 am to 4 pm at the LWL-Textilwerk. Registrations are now being accepted.
What should the area around Lake Aassee look like? How can it become more beautiful, more exciting, more lively? Is the lake well enough connected to the city centre? Are there perhaps a lack of leisure, catering or event facilities? Are there sustainable ideas to improve the quality of the region?
"If you have fresh ideas and a desire to work creatively with other young people, you've come to the right place. Every idea is welcome", say Alissa Rötker from the city's building department and Sascha Terörde from the mayor's office.
Bocholt has been given the opportunity to host this "MAKERTHON" organised by the NRW Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy. It is a special participation format for 15 to 25-year-olds, through which young people, with the support of experts, develop creative ideas and concepts for solving individual problems with a view to their city (for information, see www.makerthon-nrw.de ).
Take part - individually, as a group, as a class
This gives Bocholt the opportunity to specifically involve young people in the ongoing Aasee framework planning. The participation event has been postponed for organisational reasons and will now take place on 16 November as a face-to-face event at Textilwerk (Industriestr. 5). "All interested parties in this age group are cordially invited to take part, including entire school classes or courses", according to the organisers. Registration is required via the website www.makerthon-nrw.de or via the link https://beteiligung.nrw.de/portal/bocholt/beteiligung/themen/1001634. Each participant will receive a goodie bag worth 50 euros.
About the redesign of the Aasee
The aim of the Aasee masterplan is to upgrade the open space with a more appealing concept and thus increase the attractiveness of the local recreation area. The potential of the leisure and recreational facilities is to be consolidated and strengthened with new impulses. Attention will be focussed on path relationships and the investigation of future usage possibilities. The areas of the bathing bay and the Aasee leisure centre will be examined in more detail. "The opinion of the younger generation is particularly important in this framework planning process," according to the city administration.
