Change: children's passports will be cancelled from 2024

New regulation for families: From 1 January 2024, children's passports will no longer be issued or extended. The background to this is a change in the law by the German government to improve the security of identity documents.

Parents who need an ID document for their child can apply for an ID card or passport instead.
