X-way
Hiking trail X 4 leads past a large number of castles, moated castles and manor houses that are so typical of the Münsterland.
It begins directly with a highlight: at the moated castle of Anholt, this wonderful hiking trail leads, after a short detour through the neighbouring Netherlands, first along the Bocholter-Aa to Bocholt. The LWL Museum Textilwerk Bocholt presents here in a historical setting the processes that turn thread into the finished textile product.
The route then continues through the beautiful Bocholt city forest to Rhede with its 16th-century double-winged moated castle.
With the moated castle of Gemen, Velen Castle, Hülshoff Castle and Rüschhaus House all the way to Loburg Castle in Ostbevern and Harkotten Castle in Sassenberg, the attractions along this hiking trail are strung together almost like pearls.
The entire X4 hiking trail is marked with the white X.
