Frequently asked questions
Why does the city of Bocholt tighten the safety rules during the funfair days?
The number of knife attacks at major events has unfortunately increased. A ban on carrying weapons and dangerous objects reduces the risk. It is about prevention, about protecting health and life, about more safety.

Why is cannabis smoking prohibited at the funfair?
According to the Cannabis Act, cannabis may not be consumed in the immediate vicinity of minors. It is not possible to adhere to the rules set by the Cannabis Act (distances etc.) at the funfair, where crowds of people and many children and young people are crowded together and on the move.
The law also states that citizens who do not consume cannabis must be protected from the direct and indirect consequences of cannabis.
The cannabis ban therefore serves to protect children and young people as well as general health protection.
