Contemporary theatre play by Felix Sommer based on the novel by Robert Seethaler, performed by the Westfälisches Landestheater Castrop-Rauxel.


In 1937, 17-year-old Franz leaves his home village to seek his fortune as an apprentice in a tobacco and newspaper shop in Vienna. There he meets Sigmund Freud, a regular customer. Over time, an unusual friendship develops between the two. In March 1938, Austria is "annexed" to the German Reich. Nothing is as it was before and Franz has to grow up quickly.


The novel is the subject of the central school-leaving examination.
