Which pigeonhole could fit? They are not silly enough for musical cabaret, and there is clearly too much laughter at their concerts for the singer-songwriter genre. Maybe the very latest German wave without electronics?
Either way, the probability of feeling better after a MON MARI ET MOI concert than before is very high.
Shakti (vocals, sometimes pianica and autoharp) & Mathias (guitar, vocals and other effect gimmicks) play songs that offer a little escape from everyday life. Unconventional songs, sometimes a bit Dada, held together by whimsical stories. Stories about rose-coloured glasses, good-mood spreaders, girls with provincial earrings, the highlight of the week, chocolate ice cream or dance floor fringe sitters.
Anyone who feels like having a good time can feel wonderfully at home at a MON MARI ET MOI concert.
Last year they were on the song best list for four months straight!
By the way: Because they live near the French border, have a French surname and "MON MARI ET MOI" clearly sounds better than "my husband and I", Shakti's grandma came up with this name. But their songs are all in German because they don't know any French anymore and would have to attend a course again first. That's not possible at the moment because they perform somewhere in Germany every week.
