As in his new CD "Les vagues dans la tête", Gérard Viel presents his songs on partly old instruments and thus creates an intensive concert experience with his own and interpretations of foreign chansons. Gérard Viel tells traditional stories in his songs, accompanied by his dulcimer and on the spinet.

We look forward to a wonderful evening with his music.

Chansons have fascinated Gérard Viel since his childhood, in his family there was always singing. His parents and family sang at every opportunity, celebrating the hours spent together. His interest in chansons and oral tradition developed in the 1970s. Since then, he has compiled a repertoire of traditional chansons from France, Quebec and Acadia through numerous travels and meetings with other musicians.

His fabulous chansons are based on stories, sometimes tall tales, of daily life, happy and unhappy love, working life, injustice, barbaric wars, and sometimes they are chansons about wine, women and song and simply good times.

Let yourself be carried away into the musical culture of yesterday and today with instruments as diverse as dulcimer, hummel ( Flemish epinette), guitar, shruti-box kabosy (guitar from Madagascar). In a land where reality and dream merge in a listening pleasure, the journey takes the listener from the 14th to the 21st century.
