In 2012, the first »Penderecki musik:akademie westfalen« took place in Borken. Highly talented musicians from all over the world gathered in the district town under the direction of the famous composer and conductor Krzysztof Penderecki to rehearse for several weeks and finally perform together as an orchestra.
The orchestra has performed the results of its intensive work in many concerts in the region under the name »festival:philharmonie westfalen«. Members of the orchestra have come together in the »kammer:philharmonie westfalen« to study and perform works of chamber music literature.
For the Christmas concert, the chamber orchestra has chosen the 3rd Brandenburg Concerto by Johann Sebastian Bach as well as his Concerto for 2 Violins in D minor.
