Talks about the art of collage

As part of the exhibition "Schliemann digs in the digital" by Klaus Cordes

After the success of the "Talks about Painting" and the "Talks about Photography", the series will be continued with the topic "Collage". Again, all interested visitors are welcome to talk about their own approach, thoughts and perspectives on this art technique.

The word collage comes from the French: "coller" means to glue, to glue. A collage is therefore composed of several materials or parts. A collage can be made of objects or pieces of fabric, paper, photos, adhesive tape - whatever can be attached to a base. A new work of art is created from individual lines.

In the twentieth century, Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso, among others, established collage as an art form. Famous collage artists include Max Ernst, Kurt Schwitters and Raoul Hausmann. Later, the collage technique also included art forms such as film and music.

We ask Kristie Legters (NL) and Klaus Cordes (D) what is it about their motifs? What determines the expressiveness of their collages? Do they follow guidelines for an aesthetic aspect? Where do they get their inspiration? There are endless approaches to thinking about the art of collage - and that is exactly what the GrenzBlickAtelier would like to invite you to: an afternoon about art!

The artist Kristie Legters from Winterswijk and the artist Klaus Cordes from Bocholt will talk about their approach to collages, how they come to the themes and what materials are used.

The audience is again cordially invited to join in the exchange of ideas. Treat yourself to a cosy afternoon of art in the GrenzBlickAtelier.
