Medical care in Bocholt

Outpatient GP care is an important building block in our health care system and a significant factor for the quality of life in a city.

GPs are the first and mostly the most important point of contact for patients, especially for older people. The relationship of trust between doctor and patient is the core of our health care system.

On 7 April 2016, the association Ärztenetz BOHRIS was founded with the support of the city of Bocholt. General practitioners, specialists and psychotherapists work closely together in this network.

By means of a cooperation agreement between the BOHRIS doctors' network, the Klinikum Westmünsterland and the municipalities of Bocholt, Rhede and Isselburg, the common goal of further strengthening medical care for citizens in the region has been pursued since then.

In addition to further training for medical staff and joint appearances at events, the cooperation includes in particular the recruitment and targeted promotion of young doctors. The aim is to counteract the shortage of doctors in the rural region, to employ trained doctors in the region and to provide incentives for them to settle here.

"All-round carefree package" for future doctors

During the clinical traineeship, the practical year and the further training to become a specialist, future doctors are supported. The young doctors are offered a medical training place in the outpatient as well as in the inpatient area and support in the form of accommodation, mobility and leisure activities from one source.

The training takes place with BOHRIS doctors for the outpatient part and with the Klinikum Westmünsterland for the inpatient part. The clinic provides flats, the three towns and the BOHRIS doctors' network provide bicycles, cars or public transport tickets. Leisure activities are organised and arranged by all partners.
