Ukrainian delegation visits the fire and rescue station in Bocholt

Cross-border cooperation with Winterswijk strengthens solidarity with Ukraine

As part of a visit organised by the neighbouring Dutch municipality of Winterswijk, five guests from Ukraine - including some from the town of Berislav in the south of the country, which has been severely affected by the war - were welcomed to Bocholt. During a tour of the fire and rescue station, the delegation learnt about the local structures of the German fire and rescue service.

Bocholt is collecting Christmas parcels for children in Verkhnodniprovsk

Submissions can be made at various locations until 3 December

The town of Bocholt, together with the charity "Helfende Hände St. Josef Bocholt e.V.", the Rotary Club of Bocholt and other dedicated partners, is launching the Christmas parcel campaign "Bocholt helps Verkhnodniprovsk". The aim is once again to provide Christmas presents for children and young people in the Ukrainian twin town.

The 8th German-Dutch Border Region Conference, to be held on 2 December 2026 in Bocholt, is already fully booked. A total of 550 registrations have been received for the event at the LWL-Textilwerk. As the host town, Bocholt is delighted with the high level of interest in cross-border cooperation.

110 guests from Huelva visit the roots of their brotherhood

Visit from 2 to 5 October // The brotherhood traces its origins to Spanish migrant workers from Bocholt // The state is supporting the exchange with a 'Europe Cheque'

Around 110 members and friends of a brotherhood from Huelva in Spain visited Bocholt together for the first time from 2 to 5 October. The trip took them back to the roots of their community: to the Spanish migrant workers who lived in Bocholt in the 1960s. Receptions, church services and personal encounters linked memories of that time with new ties between the two towns.

80 years of German-British friendship in the shadow of Brexit

A look back at the event at the LernWerk // More than 40 guests discuss the past and future of German-British relations

More than 40 interested attendees accepted the invitation from EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt and the German-British Society Bocholt e.V. to the event "80 Years of Friendship: North Rhine-Westphalia - Great Britain in the 10th Year of Brexit" on 1 October 2026. The guests were welcomed by Andreas Becker, Chair of the German-British Society of Bocholt e.V., and Deputy Mayor Gudrun Koppers in the annex of the LernWerk.

More than 400 people have already registered for the Border Region Conference in Bocholt

Preparations are under way at the LWL Textile Works // Border Region Conference on 2 December in Bocholt

More than 400 registrations have already been received for the 8th German-Dutch Border Region Conference, to be held on 2 December 2026 in Bocholt. As a result, detailed preparations for the workshops and event venues are now under way at the LWL Textile Centre. Discussions are currently taking place regarding the layout of the rooms, technical equipment and wayfinding within the building.

German-Dutch Border Talks: A smuggling tour in Dinxperwick

Walk on 6 October 2026 at 5 pm // Organised by VHS Bocholt, the municipality of Aalten and EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt // Free event

Members of the public who are interested are invited to a guided tour of the former border in Dinxperlo and Suderwick on 6 October 2026 at 5 pm. They will visit historic smuggling sites and learn about the "smuggling tricks" once used by the local residents.
