Tatum Kempers
Tatum Kempers (Doetinchem, 1976) is a versatile artist who mainly makes self-portraits. Her work is largely autobiographical and is a reaction to her own experiences and the times we live in.
Tatum creates her work in photography, video, textile and/or multimedia installations.
In her photographic work she uses various techniques such as light painting, slow shutter speeds, painting and iPhone (iPhoneography) or analogue techniques. In this way, she creates a new image that goes beyond a standard portrait.
Her most recent works are large wall hangings and textile sculptures.
In addition to photographic works and sculptures, Tatum creates video clips for bands and multimedia installations consisting of video, photography, painting, animation and performance. She often makes these together with her husband Rick Kup (independent artist and owner of the Rick Kup painting studio in Silvolde(www.rickkup.nl).
Tatum Kempers graduated from the photography school in Breda in 2014. Since then she has been working as an independent artist. She lives and works in Silvolde, the Netherlands.
