1st Bocholt CSD

Christopher Street Day

Christopher Street Day (CSD) is a major event celebrated every year in many cities around the world to fight for the rights and equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other queer people (LGBTQIA+). The name is derived from Christopher Street in New York City, where the so-called Stonewall riots took place in 1969, which are considered a turning point in the fight for the rights of homosexual people.

CSD is both a joyous celebration and a powerful demonstration for more acceptance, tolerance and the demand for equal rights for all. This year there will also be a CSD in the city of Bocholt with a varied programme that unites politics, culture and entertainment in a unique way.

The highlight of the CSD is the big demonstration, where people gather with colourful posters, rainbow flags and creative costumes to draw attention to the challenges and discrimination faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. The parade marches through the streets of the city and sends a clear message: we stand for diversity, equality and respect.

Following the demonstration, Sankt-Georg-Platz will be transformed into a lively street festival where visitors can celebrate life with music and colourful stalls. There will be music, discussions and performances on stage, reflecting the diverse spectrum of queer culture. The stands also offer plenty of information about various queer organisations and initiatives.

A space is created where people from all walks of life feel welcome and the diversity of our society is celebrated in a unique way. Here, visitors can gain new perspectives and engage with important social issues.

At the opening of the CSD, guests can look forward to an opening party where the atmosphere will be at its peak right from the start. For those who want to extend the celebrations, an after-show party is also planned to round off the event in an exuberant atmosphere. With music, dancing and good humour, the CSD will be an unforgettable experience.

The CSD is more than just a party - it is a powerful message of solidarity, acceptance and cohesion. It is a call for more acceptance and respect for all people, regardless of their sexual orientation, identity or background.

Be part of this special event and join us in setting an example for a more open, fairer and more colourful world.
