City council elects 34-year-old Bocholt native // "Looking forward to the new challenge in my home town"

The Bocholt city council has elected Dave Welling by a majority as the city's new head of construction. The 34-year-old native of Bocholt will take up his post on 1 September, succeeding Daniel Zöhler. Welling has been elected for eight years and will assume responsibility for the building department as a member of the administrative board.

Welling studied spatial planning and has a wealth of experience from his previous jobs. After completing his studies at the Technical University (TU) Dortmund, he initially worked as an urban planner in Ibbenbüren and Kalkar. From October 2018 to the end of 2021, he then headed the "Planning - Construction - Facility Management" department at the town of Isselburg. Since 2022, Welling has been Head of "City Development and Building Regulations" at the city of Kevelaer.

Dave Welling: "I am very much looking forward to being able to help shape the future of my home town in a sustainable way. Bocholt is a liveable and attractive city with great importance for the region and a lot of potential. I would like to utilise this in the coming years to further develop the city and prepare it for future challenges. I am particularly looking forward to working together with my colleagues in the town hall, the political groups and the citizens."

Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff: "I would like to congratulate Mr Welling both personally and on behalf of the city of Bocholt on his election as the new city planning officer. From September, I look forward to a close and trusting collaboration for the benefit of our city. With his expertise and commitment, he will be able to provide important impetus for further urban development. I wish him every success in this endeavour."
