On Tuesday 11 February, the city of Bocholt presents the first drama by director Pedro Almodóvar as part of the "The Special Film" series. "The Room Next Door" is the gripping adaptation of Sigrid Nunez's book "What's Missing". The two leading actresses shine in this moving story about strong women, loss and friendship.

It hits successful writer Ingrid (Julianne Moore) like a blow when she learns that Martha (Tilda Swinton), a friend from days gone by, has been diagnosed with cancer. When Ingrid visits Martha in hospital, the two women quickly reconnect. And yet a shadow hangs over their reunion.
Martha has decided not to continue her treatment. She wants to retreat to a place where she feels at ease. She books a dreamlike accommodation in a nature reserve in New England. She wants to die there. And she wants Ingrid to stand by her.

About the special film campaign
The film series "KINO Bocholt - the special film" has been running since 1977 as a cooperation between the Department of Education and Culture and the Bocholt Cinema. The aim is to present exceptional films - which would otherwise not be shown in Bocholt - to an interested audience of all ages at a favourable price of €7. Selected films are usually shown every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.
