Exciting lecture about Bocholt brewery history
Lecture series "City history on site" on July 30 in Stenern // Tasting afterwards
On Saturday, July 30, visitors can immerse themselves in Bocholt's brewing history: Then the Bocholt historian Dr. Marius Lange will give an insight into the history of the brewing trade in Bocholt in a room of the former Hirsch brewery in Stenern. Admission is free.
Almost forgotten today: Bocholt can look back on a varied brewery history. In the second half of the 19th century, beer was produced in Ravardistraße, in Biemenhorst's "Waldschlößchen" and by several Bocholt brewers in the Bergbrauerei in Lankern, among others.
His "Hirsch-Brauerei" produced various types of beer such as Export, Pilsener, Alt and the non-alcoholic and "medically recommended" Sanitäts-Malzbier. There were also keg sodas and later the "fruli" fruit lemonade, which was popular with children. Beer barrels and bottled beer were transported to the city by horse and cart, where "Tangerdings" was served in many pubs.
After the First World War, Tangerding became the only brewery in the Westmünsterland region. On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the city, the Bocholt historian Dr. Marius Lange will give an insight into this often unknown Bocholt cultural history in a room of the former Hirsch brewery in Stenern, Im Tangerding 2, on July 30 at 5:00 pm. Admission is free.
Following the lecture, there will be the opportunity to taste the beer brewed according to the original recipe.
