Centrally located in the beautiful green Achterhoek, the town of Oost Gelre (Netherlands) has around 30,000 inhabitants. It consists of the main centres of Lichtenvoorde and Groenlo and six small town centres.

Oost Gelre stands out as a city of events: In addition to many music events, there is an annual flower parade that parades through the streets of Lichtenvoorde. Every two years there is a re-enactment of the "Battle of Grolle" with many volunteers. The famous Zwarte Cross Festival, which attracts around 180,000 visitors, is also held here.
