Dieter Groß-Holtwick 40 years in public service
Dieter Groß-Holtwick from Bocholt City Council celebrates his 40th anniversary of service on 1 February 2022. His face is familiar to many Bocholters: He has been the driver of the mayor's company car for many years.
Whether former city directors such as Dr Ralf-Peter von Ameln and Hans-Josef Dahlen, many honorary mayors and, of course, the former full-time mayors Klaus Ehling and Peter Nebelo or the current incumbent Thomas Kerkhoff: when the mayor's official car is on the road, Groß-Holtwick sits behind the wheel to drive the city of Bocholt's leaders quickly, safely and punctually to their official appointments.
Groß-Holtwick initially trained as a car mechanic. After completing his basic military service, he joined the City of Bocholt as a worker at the Parks Department. He successfully passed the works test and later the special motor vehicle driver's test. From 1991, he provided substitute driving services for the central administration before being taken on as an employee car driver on 1 June 1996. Since then, he has been in charge of the chauffeur service.
