11 music students from Bocholt travel to the regional competition "Jugend musiziert".

January 29 in Heek and Duisburg // February 6 in Rheine

Also this year, students of the music school Bocholt-Isselburg will participate in the 58th competition "Jugend musiziert". The regional competition "Westmünsterland" for the districts of Borken, Coesfeld and Wesel (right of the Rhine) will take place for the string instruments next Saturday, January 29, 2022, in the Landesmusikakademie in Heek-Nienborg. The solo competition accordion will be held at the same time in Duisburg, the plucked instruments on February 6 in Rheine.

After last year's Jugend musiziert competition had to be held digitally due to the corona pandemic by submitting video entries, this year the students can once again appear before the competition jury in person.

In the categories "solo string instruments and accordion" and "plucked instruments guitar duo", 11 students will perform their pieces, selected together with the teachers, to a jury of experts.

After months of preparation, the string players are heading to the competition in Heek full of excitement and anticipation. There, on Saturday, four students on the cello and two students on the violin will present their contributions. They will be accompanied on the piano by two teachers of the music school Christina Taczyk and Karl-Heinz Höper. At the same time, one student on accordion will participate in the competition in Duisburg. Four other students from the music school will travel to Rheine a week later, on February 6, to compete in the guitar duo category.

In the past weeks, the students have already shown their skills in various music-making lessons and additional rehearsals, thus preparing themselves optimally for the upcoming competitions. Some of the students are already taking part in the competition for the second time. But also very young instrumentalists are participating again. They are gaining their first competition experience.

"Participating in the competition is a great experience for the students," explains music school director Claudia Borgers. Participation is only possible through committed parents and teachers, she adds.

"Especially the experience of playing together with others helps young musicians to develop further," adds music school teacher Christiane Schroeder, who, together with other teachers, optimally prepares the students for the competition. "Practice hard, do your best, and above all, stay healthy," Schroeder motivates her students during yesterday's rehearsal.
