5th International "Dinxperwicker" Nativity Tour in the starting blocks
Action period from December 10, 2022 to January 6, 2023 // Helpers wanted
From Saturday, December 10, to Friday, January 6, 2023 (Epiphany), Rosi Tuente from Suderwick is planning the 5th edition of the International Nativity Scene Tour in "Dinxperwick" (made-up word from the places Dinxperlo (NL) and Suderwick(D)) and surroundings. For this she is still looking for cribs, exhibition venues and volunteers.
Cooperation partners for the 5th International Nativity Tour are the city of Bocholt, the municipality of Aalten, local church congregations, banks and other sponsors. More than 150 nativity scenes from all over the world were shown at 60 exhibition locations last year. A German-Dutch Nativity Tour Committee of about 20 people supports the event in all areas of preparation and follow-up.
Rabbit search game attracts visitors from crib to crib
The variety of exhibits would like to attract numerous visitors to "Dinxperwick" at the border again this year. In addition to a guided tour, the popular hare search game will again provide a "sporty" incentive to take a closer look at all the nativity scenes. In January, a public raffle will determine many winners of non-cash prizes and value vouchers.
15-kilometer Nativity Tour Route
"Many visitors from near and far took advantage of the Christmas and New Year's days in particular for extended Nativity tour hikes or bike rides," said Rosi Tuente. "Some visitors divided the extensive route (about 15 km) into several daily stages," she explains. For out-of-town visitors arriving by car, parking, overnight accommodations and WC facilities are offered.
Flyer for orientation
A flyer describes how to reach the individual stations on foot. It will be published with the tour description at the beginning of December and will be available at many locations. It can also be downloaded from the website www.dinxperwick.info.
Wanted are:
- Nativity owners, Nativity tinkerers e.g. school classes, which make their Nativity available in the action period for the exhibition. "We are pleased to exhibit again as many different cribs as possible from classical-antique designs to abstract-modern, curious or self-made forms from a variety of materials, from large to tiny. These can also be, for example, nativity scenes created from Lego or Playmobil," says Rosi Tuente.
- Exhibition venues: Stores, churches, senior centers, schools, houses of culture, private individuals who provide a room window or carport that is easily accessible to the public as an area for the exhibition, where the Nativity scenes on display can be seen illuminated until at least 9 p.m. . are eligible.
- Volunteers to help set up and take down at some locations, distribute promotional materials, contribute new ideas, and more.
Interested parties can contact Rosi Tuente at 02874-610 with any questions about participation no later than November 20, 2022 or email her at tuente(at)freenet(dot)de.
