Online discussion: EU external borders between Ireland and Northern Ireland

Since the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union, the so-called BREXIT, Ireland and Northern Ireland have felt the consequences of this decision most keenly. What impact will BREXIT have on the "Green Isle"? A public online event for interested citizens will take place on Thursday, 17 October, starting at 7 pm. EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt is organising the event locally and other cooperation partners are also involved.

The United Kingdom, which includes Northern Ireland, has not been part of the European Union for over three years. What are the consequences of this step for the island of Ireland, which is divided by the border between the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom? What is the situation on the EU's external border and what challenges does it pose?

The online discussion also examines the opinion of the Northern Irish population on leaving the EU. Is the idea of a united Ireland still unrealistic?
