German-Dutch border talks in the tavern in Dinxperwick

On 8 October at 19:30 on the topic "European election results and their significance for the border region" // Free of charge including drinks // Register now

The next Border Talks will take place on 8 October at 19:30 in the tavern on the former border between Suderwick and Dinxperlo. The focus will be on the outcome of the European elections and their significance for the border region. There will also be an opportunity to view the photo gallery on "Hellweg in good and bad times". Registrations are accepted by the VHS Bocholt.

For the second event of the German-Dutch Border Talks in the second half of 2024, the organisers have chosen the Taverne as a special location. As a link between the German town of Suderwick and the Dutch town of Dinxperlo, this space is not currently used regularly, but was used as a polling station for Dutch citizens in Dinxperlo during the European elections in June 2024.

At the upcoming Border Talks, EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt will first present the results and implications of the European elections in the Netherlands and Germany. Afterwards, all attendees are invited to join the discussion. Knowledge of Dutch is not a prerequisite for participation, as translation will be provided if necessary.

There will also be an opportunity to view the photo gallery on the subject of "Hellweg in good and bad times". These photos impressively reflect the history of the former German-Dutch border. The gallery was opened on 23 April in the presence of the district administrator of the Borken district and the mayors of Bocholt and Aalten. At the same time, the day on which Suderwick was placed under Dutch administration for 14 years in 1949 was commemorated.

The VHS Bocholt accepts registrations at vhs-bocholt.de under the course number BS1110B, at the e-mail address vhs(at)bocholt(dot)de or the telephone number (02871) 953-2277. The course is free of charge including drinks. The address of the tavern is: Hellweg 48, 46399 Bocholt.
