EU Youth Ambassadors: Workshop series enters its fourth round

Secondary and intermediate schools can apply for the next school year until 21 June // Already successfully implemented at two Bocholt schools

Bocholt secondary schools have until 21 June to apply for the "EU-Ambassador@school" project. The EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt office would like to draw your attention to this.

Show interest without obligation

The project has already been or is being successfully implemented at Hohe-Giethorst-Schule and - in the current school year - at Städtische Gesamtschule Bocholt. Other secondary schools can express their interest without obligation by sending an e-mail to eu-jugendbotschafter(at)edu-impact(dot)de. Teachers can find further information on the website https://mbeim.nrw/eu-jugendbotschafterschool. If you have any questions, EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt can also provide on-site support by emailing europe-direct(at)bocholt(dot)de or calling 02871/953 1287.

Workshops with youth ambassadors

With the "EU Youth Ambassadors@school" project, the state government is targeting young people in the ninth and tenth grades who often see few points of contact with Europe in their everyday lives.

To this end, four-hour workshops are offered at secondary modern and intermediate schools, and in some cases also at comprehensive schools, in which the pupils form an opinion and develop new perspectives in order to establish their own individual relationship to Europe. The workshops are led by young, specially trained EU Youth Ambassadors who are not much older than the pupils themselves. In teams of two, they visit the same group of pupils four to six times over the course of a school year and talk about European topics.

"European political education continues even after the Eutopa election", advertises Sonja Wießmeier from EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt. "The teachers whose classes have already been able to take part in the workshops were very enthusiastic. I therefore hope that more schools from Bocholt will get in touch to take part in the project."

The project has already been successfully implemented at a total of 32 schools in North Rhine-Westphalia over the last three school years, including two schools in Bocholt.
