Beer tasting at evening market goes down well

Pupils take part in Europe quiz // Wheel of fortune popular // Campaign organised by EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt and the Europa-Union

Beer tasting, quiz games, a wheel of fortune and colouring activities: To draw attention to the European elections on 9 June, EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt, in cooperation with the Europa-Union Bocholt, organised a special event at the evening market in Bocholt city centre.

Gudrun Koppers, the EU local councillor for the city of Bocholt, had fun explaining EU-specific topics. She spoke to interested citizens about democracy, peace and freedom.

Adults were able to sample different types of beer from the Belgian twin town of Bocholt. The reason for this was Belgium's current EU Council Presidency. Children had the opportunity to show what they can think of on the subject of environmental protection and what they themselves can do to ensure an intact environment.

To test their knowledge of the EU and Bocholt's twin cities, there were quiz games at the stand, both online and analogue. Prizes such as EU coffee mugs, socks, USB sticks and much more were up for grabs.

The organisers were also pleased to welcome young people to the stand who wanted teachers to offer more formats on the topic of Europe at school. " EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt is happy to help with this", said Sonja Wießmeier, Head of EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt.
