VHS offers ukulele and blues harp advanced courses

On Sunday, 22 September, things will get musical at the media centre at the Alter Bahnhof in Bocholt. The adult education centre (VHS) Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg is offering an advanced ukulele course from 11 am to 3 pm, followed by an advanced blues harp course from 3.30 pm.

Didi Spatz, director of the Liederspatzen music school in Heelden, is the course leader for both units. Basic knowledge is refreshed and new skills are built up in small learning groups. The prerequisite for the ukulele course is to be able to play the normal basic chords C, F and G alternately and fluently. In the workshop, you will learn how to use different strumming and plucking techniques. The aim of the course is to work on a small selection of songs.

A C major tuned diatonic harmonica is required for the advanced course Blues Harp. You will work with the instruction book "Blues Harp for Beginners". The book with CD is recommended and can be purchased during the course for €20 if required. The aim of the course is to be able to play the blues scale, licks and intros on the harp and to hone your own technique.
