Special film "Charlatan" will be shown on Tuesday
Historical film drama at the Kinodrom
The historical film drama "Charlatan" by director Agnieszka Holland will be shown next Tuesday, April 26, starting at 8 p.m. in the Bocholt Kinodrom. The film is part of the series "The special film".
Based on a true incident, Charlatan tells of the life of Czech healer Jan Mikolasek, who cured hundreds of people with herbal medicines. What begins as the journey of a young man interested in alternative medicine soon becomes a fascinating portrait of a brilliant genius whose passion does not go unnoticed for long.
Treating celebrities of Nazism and Communism, which brings him fame and fortune, Mikolasek soon gets caught in the dichotomy of morality and cruelty, light and darkness, love and hate. A paradoxical life that is severely tested by his love for his assistant Frantisek and by his former patrons who suddenly turn against him.
