"BOHJazz" with jazz trombonist Ludwig Nuss

On Thursday, November 3, the concert series "BOHJazz" will continue in the Skylounge of the LWL Textilwerk. This time the soloist is the German jazz trombonist Ludwig Nuss. Visitors can look forward to jazzy sounds with new and well-known standards in this unique combination. The concert starts again at 8 pm. Admission is free.
The concert series "BOHJazz" plays every two months in the Skylounge. Each time a new line-up plays together at these evenings. This Thursday, jazz guitarist Christian Hassenstein will welcome Ludwig Nuss as guest soloist. The artists will be supported by bassist Volker Heinze and drummer Rene Marx.
About the soloist
Ludwig Nuss studied in Cologne with Jiggs Whigham. He completed his concert exam in jazz trombone with distinction. Nuss first worked as a freelance musician in the Cologne studio scene and made countless recordings for radio, television and sound carriers.
Between 1992 and 1996 he was a member of the SDR Big Band in Stuttgart. In addition to his work as lead trombonist and jazz soloist in the WDR Big Band Cologne, Nuss is active in many areas of the German and European jazz scene. He gives concerts as a duo with pianist Michael Abene, in his trio with John Goldsby and Benyamin Nuss, and with various quartet or quintet lineups. In the past, this also included Jazzed Friends with trumpeter Ingolf Burkhardt, the bands MIBLUe and Legal Paradizer with saxophonist Peter Weniger, and ensembles with his brother, pianist Hubert Nuss.
As a sideman he can be heard on numerous recordings of international (Bob Brookmeyer, Bill Holman, Patti Austin, Frank Foster, Rob McConnell, Lalo Schifrin, Phil Woods, Slide Hampton, Vince Mendoza, Brecker Brothers, Peter Erskine, Manny Albam, Bob Mintzer etc.) and national jazz musicians (Paul Kuhn, Peter Herbolzheimer, German Jazzorchester, Thilo Berg Big Band, Bill Ramsey, Dieter Reith, Peter Fessler, All That Jazz etc.).
In addition to his activities as a band musician, he is involved in the promotion of young musicians, both as a trombone teacher for individual students and as a tutor in jazz workshops. Between 2007 and 2012 he was a professor of jazz trombone at the Jazz Institute in Berlin.
The concert
Admission to the concert is free and will take place in the Skylounge of the LWL Textilwerk (Industriestraße 5, 46395 Bocholt). Please note: This time the concert will start at 8 pm for the first time. The event is supported by the Stadtsparkasse Bocholt.
