Larger amount of hazardous waste illegally disposed of
Bags with insulation wool deposited in Mussum
Last week, unknown persons dumped a large quantity of insulation wool at Kreuzkamp in Mussum. An attentive passer-by had noticed the wild dump and informed the city of Bocholt about it. The municipal waste disposal and service company (ESB) now hopes that the unknown perpetrators will dispose of the waste themselves.
"There is no reason to simply throw such waste into the landscape," says ESB waste consultant Petra Tacke. The costs for the removal of such wild dumps are borne by the general public. Mineral wool is hazardous waste, according to the city of Bocholt. The central collection point in the district of Borken is the Entsorgungsgesellschaft Westmünsterland in Gescher.
Advice on the correct packaging and on other disposal options is available from the waste advisory service on telephone 02871 / 24 63 24. There is still a little hope that the polluters will realize their mistake and dispose of the waste properly after all. Therefore the ESB will clear the place also only in the course of this week.
