Ukrainian books for lending in the library
Bocholt City Library now also offers Ukrainian books for loan
From now on, readers of the city library can also borrow Ukrainian-language books. With the help of the project "A suitcase full of books" of the Goethe-Institut and the German Library Association e.V., a large number of books could be added to the collection.
Bocholt City Library applied for the nationwide project "A Suitcase Full of Books" of the Goethe-Institut and has thus been provided with a large package of Ukrainian-language books for children and young people. The books can be borrowed immediately with a valid reading card. "We are very pleased to be able to participate in the project," says Adriane Kotzott, who is responsible for foreign-language literature at the city library. The demand for Ukrainian books is also increasing at the city library.
Support for refugees
"We hope to make a small contribution to supporting Ukrainian refugees with the offer. Literature opens up other worlds to us and can thus help through difficult times," says Adriane Kotzott. Currently, the library's collection consists mainly of Ukrainian books for children and young adults. In the future, the city library would like to expand the offer to include adult literature as well. "Buying foreign-language books is always a bit more difficult anyway. Getting hold of Ukrainian-language books is of course even more difficult in the current situation," Kotzott continues.
Other foreign languages in the library
In addition to Ukrainian-language books, the city library also offers other foreign-language literature. These include English, French, Russian and Dutch books, for example.
