Reopening of the Novel Department in the City Library

Artist Magdalena Freund reads humorous and entertaining stories by well-known authors at the opening of the Novel Department at the City Library // Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 5 - 7 p.m.

On June 14, starting at 5 p.m., artist Magdalena Freund will read short excerpts from texts by well-known authors on the occasion of the newly designed novel section in the municipal library. The renovated first floor now offers more space to linger and browse and has been visually upgraded. Interested parties are cordially invited to the opening!

The Bocholt City Library will ceremoniously present its freshly renovated novel section on June 14.

"After months of planning and remodeling, we are pleased to finally present the bright shelves and colorful seating to our visitors," says Klaudia Kroesen, head of the Novel Department. In addition to a new shelving system and attractive seating, the entire first floor has been re-lit. More brightness and fresh colors now make the department shine.

All interested parties are invited

Now that library users have been allowed to visit the new novel department for a few weeks, it is time to invite all Bochol residents to an open tour with literary background music. "We are very happy that we could win the Bocholter Magdalena Freund for such a nice occasion for a reading in our house," says Melanie Tenhumberg, head of the municipal library. "All interested parties are cordially invited to a drink in the new premises". The artist will accompany the evening entertaining and humorous with literary delicacies of well-known authors.

Background to the renovation work

The renovation of the novel department is part of the modernization project of the Bocholt Public Library towards an open meeting place for all. The modernization measures could be carried out thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Culture and Science NRW in cooperation with the city of Bocholt.
