Municipality supports "One Million Stars" campaign of Caritas and Liebfrauen

The municipality supports the charity action "One Million Stars", which is carried out on November 5 by Caritas Bocholt and the parish Liebfrauen. Specifically, a donation can be made at the Bocholt Municipal Library or at the Center for Continuing Education (Stenerner Weg) for a candle that will be lit on the day of the campaign. People who donate money to support the action will receive a bookmark as a small thank you.

What is the "One Million Stars" campaign?

The campaign "One-Million-Stars" is a solidarity campaign of Caritas international. In November, public places all over Germany are transformed into shining seas of lights together with Caritas associations, institutions, services and parishes in order to set a sign of solidarity with people in need here in Germany and worldwide.

What happens in Bocholt

The Caritas Association for the Deanery of Bocholt and the Catholic Parish of Liebfrauen are jointly carrying out the "One Million Stars" campaign in Bocholt this year. In Bocholt, hundreds of candles in the shape of a star are to be lit on the forecourt of St. Agnes Chapel at around 6:30 p.m. on November 5, 2022. Candle sponsorships for these candles can be purchased in advance at various locations starting with a donation of 5 euros. The money donated will benefit the social office "Offenes Ohr" in Bocholt (contact point for people in difficult life situations) and an aid project for refugee children from Venezuela who live in Colombia.

"The city library and continuing education center are very popular places to go. We as the city of Bocholt are happy to support this campaign by Caritas and Liebfrauen. We are keeping our fingers crossed that many donations can be raised for a good cause," says Isabel Testroet, Head of the VHS, City Library and JUNGE UNI.
